Abstract
Giant uterine myoma is rarely seen in developed countries. We present a case of a 47-year-old woman with abdominal
distension who was found to have a 12.2 kg giant myoma. Immunohistochemical staining showed strongly
positive for estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR). After diagnosis under ultrasonography and pelvic
computed tomography, surgical removal was performed successfully. Many difficulties may be developed during
the management of giant myoma. To minimize surgical complication, perioperative careful evaluation and optimal
surgical approach are recommended.
